It is the candidate’s responsibility to obtain a typing certificate when required. Please attach a copy of your valid typing certificate with each application submitted, whenever the job bulletin requires it. You should keep your original certificate. We are not responsible for photocopying your certificate from a previous recruitment. The City of Lompoc is currently accepting typing tests from the Internet. A valid certificate may be obtained through a temporary employment agency, online, or a business college. A certificate is considered valid, provided the following items are indicated on your typing certificate:

• It is on the testing agency letterhead with a signature of the tester.
• Documents the Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM) minus the number of errors (subtract one word per error from GWPM), which equals the Net Words Per Minute (NWPM).
• Minimum of a 5-minute timed typing test.
• Lists the dates the test was administered. (Must be within the last 12 months, or within the period of time specified in job posting).

If any of this information is not indicated on the certificate, it may not be accepted as valid.

The following agencies have testing available by appointment. They may require photo identification and a fee may be required.
