The Community Development Department is responsible for various programs such as the Homebuyer Assistance Program, Community Development Block Grant Program, and Monitoring, Compliance and Resources; and implements the City’s adopted Storm Water Management Ordinance, and Municipal and Industrial Permit programs; and complies with ordinances and regulations to protect and promote property values and the health, safety, and general welfare of the residents of the City of Lompoc through responsive and effective code enforcement services.
The Department provides services through the following divisions:
The Planning Division: The Division fosters growth and protects the quality of life of the community by utilizing planning techniques and resources to implement the City's long-range plans; and performs design and environmental review of development proposals; and enforces land use and municipal zoning ordinances.
The Building and Safety Division: The Division implements permit programs, and enforces health and housing codes, and California Building codes. Concerns regarding code compliance can be submitted via an online Citizen Concern Form.
The CDBG/Housing Division: The Division allocates annual grants to non-profit agencies who will develop viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and opportunities to expand economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.
The Parks & Recreation Division provides residents and visitors with safe, comprehensive and enjoyable recreation programs, facilities and services which respond to the changing needs of the community. The recreation services are designed to meet the physical, mental, cultural, and social needs of residents and visitors, while enhancing the overall quality of life in the Lompoc Valley.
