Lompoc Receives Transportation Planning Award Of Excellence
The honor was recently issued by the California Chapter of the American Planning Association, Central Coast Section on April 22, 2023, as part of its 2023 Central Coast Planning Awards.
The city worked with planning consultant RRM Design Group and Caltrans to create a long-term transportation plan for Lompoc. The Lompoc Streetscape Multi-Modal Improvement Plan will provide bicycle and pedestrian improvements along the North H Street (Highway 1) and Ocean Avenue (Highway 246) corridors, as well as streetscape design and beautification measures. The plan preserves safety, and creates a more walkable, multimodal access and connectivity along its state highways. In addition, the streetscape plan identifies opportunities for new city gateways, and landscaping improvements while encouraging in-fill development and revitalization along Lompoc’s major transportation corridors.
The Lompoc Streetscape Multi-Modal Improvement Plan is listed on the Caltrans Lompoc Area Projects List and is scheduled for construction in spring/fall of 2029.
Adopted July 19, 2022
The City of Lompoc has received a grant from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to carry out transportation studies and planning work along the North H Street (Highway 1) and Ocean Avenue (Highway 246) corridors. At a Joint City Council and Planning Commission hearing on July 19, 2022 at 4:30 p.m. City Council adopted Resolution No. 6532 (22) approving the Lompoc Streetscape Multimodal Improvement Plan (GR 18-01) for conceptual transportation improvements relating to traffic safety, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, multi-modal connections, corridor and landscaping enhancements along H Street and Ocean Avenue.
