What is SolarAPP+?

SolarAPP+, short for Solar Automated Permit Processing, is an online web portal that automates the plan review and process for issuing building permits to qualified businesses or individuals to install code-compliant residential photovoltaic (PV) systems. Based on model building, electrical, and fire codes, SolarAPP automatically performs a compliance check on inputs supplied by the contractor to ensure the proposed system is safe and code compliant. Installation practices, workmanship, and adherence to the approved design are then verified by the City of Lompoc through the inspection process.

How To Use SolarAPP+

*All contractors must obtain a City Business Tax Certificate and have a valid State Contractors License to be eligible to submit an application through SolarApp+

Step 1: Obtain Approval from City of Lompoc Electric

Please note that the City of Lompoc City Council approved a temporary suspension of the City of Lompoc Electric Utility Division’s Solar PV or other distributed generation application process for new or expanded distribution generation projects on October 1, 2024, until further notice.  This temporary suspension applies to all pending and new applications.  Please contact utility staff at 805-875-8222 for more information.

 Please be advised that if you proceed with submitting a project in SolarAPP+ and install a system without receiving approval from the utility first, you will not be able to interconnect the system until after the suspension of the application process has been removed and your system has been approved by the Utility.

• Review and initial the "Customer Owned Generation Rate Schedule G-1," as provided by the Electric Utility division
• Verify the proposed solar system wiring and interconnection means comply with the City of Lompoc Electric Utility Division Standard Drawing Number SM-1600 requirements of a 2-meter billing arrangement
• Once approval has been obtained by City of Lompoc Electric, proceed to Step 2

Step 2: Submit Project in SolarAPP+

•  Click here to be directed to SolarAPP+
• Register for or login to your SolarAPP+ account
• Submit your project through SolarAPP+
• Pay the associated fees
• Download the approval documents
