Beattie Park is a sprawling 50 acre park located in southeast Lompoc off of East Olive Avenue.
This community park lies against the foothills of the City and offers fantastic views of the Lompoc Valley. On a clear day, from the highest point in the park, you can easily see the Pacific Ocean!
The park features a large group picnic area, a children's playground, two lighted basketball courts, a multi-purpose soccer/football field, individual picnic areas, an urban forest preserve which has a popular winding fitness trail, and a "Lookout Point" (small gazebo) located at the highest point in the park (in the urban forest).
Within the urban forest preserve is "Recognition Grove" which was established in 1989. Many local leaders have been recognized with trees planted in their honor or memory for the active role they have played in making Lompoc a better place to live and work. (see below for information)
The park had its beginnings in 1973 when the Beattie family donated 15 acres to the City. In 1975, the City also received a 30 acre donation from Johns-Manville Corporation and purchased an additional 5 acres of property from a private party to create the 50 acre park total.
