Join us in celebrating Landsat/ICESat-2 at the Lompoc Aquatic Center this Sunday, September 26th! The Aquatic Center will be hosting a fun and education event which will include activities focused on ice and water. These activities will give participants an idea about the missions and the different technologies used, such as how Landsat-9 measures ice with thermal infrared radiation, how ICESat-2 measures ice using lidar, and how the two missions monitor changing ice on Earth. Some of the activities at this event will include: Land and sea ice demonstrations, a photons and laser demonstration, putting together a giant “America view” Landsat puzzle, and other engaging activities!
The fun begins at 12 noon and ends at 1:30 p.m. Normal recreational swim activity will begin at 1:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for youth and adults 60 +, and $1 for children under 2 years. The admission fee includes entry to both the event and recreational swim. Pre-sale starts at 11:30 a.m.
